Founded by renowned architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, Jaipur has the distinction of being the first well-planned city in India after the Harappan culture. Globally renowned for its colorful gemstone art, the capital city of Rajasthan combines the charm of its ancient history with all the benefits of a metropolis. The never-ending modern city is one of the three corners of the Golden Triangle which includes the Delhi, Agra and Jaipur triangles.
The story goes that around 1876 the Prince of Wales visited India. Since the color pink was the symbol of Atiti Devo Bhava, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur painted the entire city in pink colour. The pink color that paints the city makes for an amazing sight to behold. With the backdrop of Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Garh Ganesh temple forts, Jaipur stands out in a grand manner.
Originally Jaipur was founded in 1727 when it was founded by Raja Jai Singh II of Amber. He shifted his capital from Amber to the new city due to the rapidly growing population and increasing water scarcity. Renowned architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya used the established principles of Vastu Shastra to build the city.
